A retaining-wall solution adapted to difficult ground
We constructed this FLEX MSE vegetated retaining wall beside a historic riverbank. The original concept was a driven-post timber wall, but the bank contained substantial buried boulders that prevented the posts from being driven accurately enough for a tidy result.
Changing the design to suit the site
Rather than force the original approach, we adjusted the solution. Posts were used at the base where practical, while the wall above was formed using the modular FLEX MSE bag system. The units create a reinforced structure that can be hydroseeded or planted so vegetation grows through the face.
