Earthmoving Christchurch / Cut, fill, cartage and grading5–50+ tonne capability
Earthmoving Christchurch

Move the ground with purpose.

Bulk earthmoving, cut and fill, site reshaping, land clearing, cartage and grading for residential, rural and commercial projects across Christchurch and Canterbury.

Plant, trucks and material movements coordinated.Earthmoving planned around quantities, access, haul routes, ground conditions and the required finished levels.
Christchurch earthmoving contractor

Control every cubic metre.

Good earthmoving balances production with the final result. Cut, fill, cartage, drainage and compaction need to work as one sequence—not as separate jobs.

TBT Earthworks has the machinery, trucks and operating experience for detailed residential work through to major rural, hillside and commercial earthmoving. We plan where material is coming from, where it is going and what the finished site needs to achieve.

5–50+ tonne plantMachinery selected around access, volume and production requirements.
Cut and fillMaterial balanced, relocated and shaped around final design levels.
CartageSpoil removal, imported fill and aggregate movements coordinated.
Laser gradingAccurate platforms, roads, car parks, shed pads and arenas.
Earthmoving services

Large movements. Controlled finish.

The work is planned around access, quantities, material suitability, haul distance, compaction requirements and how the completed site will be used.

01 / CUT & FILL

Bulk cut and fill

Excavate high areas, relocate suitable material, build low areas and form the site around the required platforms and levels.

02 / RESHAPING

Site and land reshaping

Benching, contouring, slope formation, platform construction and general reshaping for development or improved use.

03 / CLEARING

Land and site clearing

Vegetation, stumps, old surfaces, unsuitable material and obstructions removed before major site development begins.

04 / CARTAGE

Material cartage

Truck movements for spoil, cleanfill, aggregates, structural fill and other project materials coordinated with site production.

05 / CIVIL

Roads and development

Subdivision roads, rights of way, farm access, commercial yards, platforms, drainage and aggregate construction.

06 / RURAL

Rural earthmoving

Tracks, drains, ponds, arenas, land development, clearing and bulk material movements across Canterbury properties.

Complete material movement

From first cut to final grade.

Managing plant, trucks and finish under one scope reduces delays and double handling.

Quantity planningCut, fill, spoil and imported material assessed before production.
Bulk excavationMaterial moved efficiently using plant matched to the volume.
Onsite reuseSuitable excavated material relocated where design and quality allow.
Cartage and disposalSurplus or unsuitable material removed to an appropriate destination.
Fill and compactionApproved material placed in controlled layers for the required use.
Final gradingPlatforms, roads and surfaces trimmed to the intended finish.
Earthmoving sequence

Plan the haul before loading the bucket.

Production improves when access, truck cycles, stockpiles and the final position of every material are established early.

Earthmoving questions

What controls cost and production?

Volume, haul distance, access, soil type, imported material and compaction requirements usually have the greatest effect.

What is the difference between earthmoving and excavation?

Excavation focuses on digging to a required shape or depth. Earthmoving covers the wider movement, relocation, placement and grading of material across a site.

Can you complete cut and fill?

Yes. Suitable excavated material can be moved from high areas to build low areas, subject to design requirements, material quality and controlled placement.

Do you supply trucks and imported fill?

Yes. Trucking, spoil removal, aggregates and approved imported fill can be coordinated as part of the earthmoving scope.

What size projects do you undertake?

We complete residential and confined work through to larger rural, hillside, commercial and subdivision earthmoving projects.

Can you complete final grading?

Yes. Laser grading and conventional trimming can be used for platforms, roads, car parks, shed pads, arenas and other prepared surfaces.
