The excavation is only one part of the hillside problem.

On a steep property, every movement affects something else: machine position, truck access, temporary stability, spoil handling, drainage, retaining and the construction sequence below or above the cut.

TBT plans the work around the complete site rather than treating the excavation in isolation. Available plans, geotechnical information and engineering requirements are reviewed before the work sequence is established.

Do hillside cuts require engineering?

Many do, particularly where stability, retaining, neighbouring property or building loads are involved. Requirements depend on the site and proposed work.

Can you work with an existing engineer?

Yes. TBT can work from existing geotechnical, civil and structural information and coordinate the earthworks sequence with the project team.

Can you remove rock?

Yes. Breaker-equipped excavators can complete controlled hard-ground and rock excavation where suitable for the site and scope.

What happens to excavated spoil?

Material may be reused where suitable and permitted, stockpiled for later works or carted to an appropriate disposal location.

Do you build the retaining walls too?

TBT can coordinate excavation, retaining construction, drainage and backfill, or work alongside another retaining contractor from supplied plans.
